  • Task:
Production of two special-steel condensing towers for a blast furnace plant; transportation to the installation site via road and barge; supervision of installation
  • Details:
Two condensing towers made from a total of four components, with each bottom component measuring 6.5 m and each top component 6.0 m in diameter. Short production time of 8-12 weeks followed by assembly in 4-5 weeks.

Hilgefort manufactured two condensing towers with a granulation system for a blast furnace plant in Duisburg, Germany. The two system parts are a mirror-image of each other and each made from two components. The bottom system parts were primed for brickwork with cast basalt at the installation site.

The built-in condensing ramps were manufactured from special steel. The steelwork for the stair tower was also completed by Hilgefort.

Transporting the oversized components by road to the nearest inland port in Sedelsberg was a particular challenge. Once there, the components were loaded onto barges and shipped to the final destination. Managing the installation work and supervising commissioning by engineers was also included in the scope of supply.

With a very short production time of 8-12 weeks and a further 4-5 weeks for assembly, creating these two towers was a particular achievement for Hilgefort GmbH.
